Medical Cannabis in Canada

Medical cannabis in Canada is regulated under the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR), etc., now part of the Cannabis Act. Physicians (and in some provinces nurse practitioners) can issue a “medical document” (kind of like a prescription) to patients if they deem it clinically appropriate.

After getting the document, patients can purchase cannabis products from licensed producers (LPs). They can also designate someone to produce it for them under certain conditions.
