Medical Cannabis in Germany

Since 2017, under German law, all doctors (except dentists and veterinarians) may prescribe medical cannabis for therapeutic purposes, under certain conditions.

As of April 2024, a new law (“CanG” / Cannabis Law) came into effect that made cannabis no longer classified as a strict narcotic in some contexts; changes include standard prescriptions for medical cannabis, more specialties being able to prescribe without prior insurance approval, etc.
